A friend recently introduced me to Shiina Ringo, a sort of contemporary-jazz-pop-singer-songwriter from Japan. Her latest album, called "Sanmon Gossip" (Superficial Gossip) is all sorts of awesome. Really great, and the production is supreme. Kind of grossed me out at first, but i couldn't help but keep listening. Pretty obnoxious i guess, but she has a great voice and the music is just a ton of fun. She also composed all the songs, which is way impressive once you hear how complicated and orchestrated they are. The musicians she plays with are totally insane too. I highly recommend if you're in the mood for good adventurous pop music. You can download it if you go to this link:
